It was the first time they had ever seen snow.

They stood and watched.
Soft. Quiet.
Mesmerizing.

1 HOUR LATER they were inside – cold, a little soggy but buzzing!

1 DAY LATER they donned gloves and walked, crunching over the grass, to hurl snowball after snowball at the fence.

1 WEEK LATER they sweated, shoveling the path to the door and then hung up their stinky socks to dry…again.

1 MONTH LATER the snow was dirty. The path treacherous. The novelty gone.

Those sweet summer children.
