You’ve always known this was your destiny, really your entire purpose for being. Life as an organ host isn’t so bad in this day and age. Back in 2073 when the mass farming started I think life expectancy for hosts was only 19 or so. Now at 15, on the eve of my first extraction, there’s an 83% chance that I’ll go on to give hearts to three or four others at least and live into my 130s. Growth of your second organ takes time, but the body isn’t silly and learns quickly. All the incubations following this one will be much quicker and almost painless. You glance over at your Have Heart postcard and chuckle, you’re ready.
