We had the same name – first, middle and last – but we were not the same person.

It first came to light when university entrance exam scores were published in the paper.

It next caused confusion during a family reunion, then a bequest that benefited the wrong grand niece and a misguided love letter had rather hilarious results when I turned up at the park rather than the Clareabelle Meredith Jacobson he was expecting.

The final, rather heartbreaking coincidence, was when they tried to use my dental records rather than hers to try and identify charred remains found in her holiday cabin. She lies in an unmarked grave and I feel slightly responsible…
